As a constituent, I am writing on the 8th Anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act to ask you to take action to stop efforts to sabotage the Affordable Care Act and weaken Medicaid and to focus on good-faith efforts to build on the tremendous successes of the ACA over the past 8 years.

The ACA provides coverage to more than 1.1 million Pennsylvanians and has reduced the number of uninsured in Pennsylvania to the lowest rate ever. Equally important, the ACA provides critical consumer protections like banning discrimination against those with pre-existing conditions and ensuring that our coverage provides necessary care like prescription medication, maternity care, and mental health care.

The current Administration and Congressional Leaders have tried to repeal, undermine and weaken the ACA and Medicaid. Last year, lawmakers tried repeatedly to repeal the ACA through various bills that failed in Congress largely because of tremendous popular support for the ACA. Despite the law's overwhelming support, lawmakers and the Administration continue to undermine it, through actions like the repeal of the individual mandate, refusing to pay cost-sharing reductions, and encouraging the use of short-term junk insurance plans. Attacks on Medicaid continue as well, with the Administration pushing for states to begin forcing people who rely on Medicaid to prove that they are working in order to continue receiving benefits, an action that will result in many losing access to needed care.

I am counting on you to stop these attacks and fight for my - and all Pennsylvanians'- access to high-quality, affordable healthcare!
