Message:

I’m writing to urge you to do everything in your power to extend the enhanced premium tax credits for marketplace insurance plans. These tax credits have made coverage more affordable than ever for families like mine. Open Enrollment is already underway, and the enhanced tax credits are set to expire soon. Without swift action from Congress, people like me, and the roughly half-million Pennsylvanians who rely on Pennie for coverage, will see our premiums double, triple, or even quadruple on January 1. That kind of price increase will force many of us into impossible choices: enrolling in plans with inadequate coverage, cutting back on basic necessities to afford insurance, or going without coverage altogether. Proposals like expanding health savings accounts won’t come close to offsetting these higher premiums or the steep deductibles that already prevent many of us from getting the care we need. As your constituent, I’m counting on you to protect our access to affordable health insurance by extending the enhanced premium tax credits. Thank you for your attention to this urgent issue.
