Take Action to Improve Dental Coverage through Medicare!

This month, letters have started circulating in both the House of Representatives and the Senate that encourage the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services to use its administrative authority to cover certain dental care as medically necessary care in Medicare. These two letters will come from the Members of Congress and be sent to the administration. To make them effective, we need as many members as possible to sign on.

Millions of seniors rely on Medicare for their health care, but if they need dental work done in order to get a medical procedure--like treating an oral infection that stands in the way of getting a kidney transplant-- Medicare won't cover the oral health work. This puts their health at risk, but it also means that they may later develop a more serious condition, and cost Medicare more money.

There is an on-going effort to get CMS to use their administrative authority to allow this coverage. As a constituent, I urge you to sign onto the Bilirakis-Levin Letter on Medically Necessary Dental Care to be a part of this effort.
