Hi Friend, PHAN has been closely following the spread of COVID-19/coronavirus in Pennsylvania and nationwide. We recognize that many in our community, especially those who are at higher risk, may have deep concerns and anxieties in this uncertain time. Please take care of yourselves and your families and communities and follow the guidance of public health officials to the best of your ability. The spread of the coronavirus has exposed many critical flaws in our healthcare system. These include high out-of-pocket costs that may make folks afraid to seek care, poor access to coverage and care, lack of paid sick leave, and many others. It also shows us how closely intertwined our personal health is with the health of our communities. As we move forward, it will be more critical than ever to address the flaws in our healthcare system. Over the coming weeks, we will be creating opportunities for those of us who are able to advocate for better healthcare to do so remotely. Please stay tuned for ways to get involved or contact our statewide organizer Robin Stelly at robin@pahealthaccess.org to learn more. As always, if you have questions about getting covered or need help understanding your health coverage, you can call PHAN's helpline at 877-570-3642. We are also posting information and announcements about health coverage for coronavirus testing and treatment on PHAN's Facebook page. As a reminder, current guidance includes practicing social distancing, washing hands, cleaning surfaces, and other measures. For more information, visit the PA Department of Health's coronavirus update center. Best Regards, | |
